Redolent Wine Sister From Another Mister Red Blend, Oregon 2022
Medium ruby color; black cherry, redcurrant, blackberry, raspberry, dried herbs, mint, white pepper, earth, lavender on the nose and palate.
Dry; soft, dusty tannins; lively acidity. Medium body. Blend of 66% sangiovese, 34% syrah grapes from vineyards in the Columbia River Gorge in both Oregon and Washington State. Sangiovese grapes were destemmed before fermentation, while syrah grapes whole cluster fermentation. The odd name refers to two women who have a close, sister-like relationship but are not true sisters. Redolent also makes a nebbiolo-pinot noir blend named Brother From Another Mother. 12.2% ABV
Redolent Wine Company principals Jon Larson and Boyd Pearson
Redolent Wine is a partnership between Jon Larson and Boyd Pearson. Larson is the winemaker, Pearson leads sales. Both were long into wine. The website notes: “Jon and Boyd had long wanted to produce wine together, as they’d been neighbors for years and shared the dream over many a glass of wine and pint of beer (and perhaps a cocktail or two). In the late summer of 2015, we got our shot. David Polite of Carlton Hill Vineyard contacted Boyd and said he had an extra ton of Pinot Noir available should Boyd want it. Boyd immediately contacted Jon Larson to help make this single vineyard Pinot Noir. And we contacted John Grochau of GC Wines to see if he had some space available at his winery, as we realized quickly this was more grapes than we could handle and produce wine at home.”
Redolent stresses low intervention in the growing and making of wine. They note: “When it comes to winemaking for Redolent Wine, we strive to simply be stewards of the metamorphosis from grapes into wine. We aim to abstain from intervening in this process both in the fermentation and aging of the wines. We seek to capture the true nature of the grapes, the place, and the vintage.”

Redolent Wine Sister From Another Mister Red Blend, Oregon 2022 offers easily approachable blend of two-thirds sangiovese and one-third syrah. Grapes from Columbia River Gorge in both Oregon and Washington. Fresh with some complexity. Bright, round easy drinker. Food friendly. Pair with hearty dishes—braised or grilled beef and lamb; burgers and sliders. Pasta with pork. Mushroom risotto. Cheese—aged cheddar, gruyère, parmigiano-reggiano, gorgonzola, smoked gouda, fiore sardo. $28

What's important to me is the quality of the end product. I imagine that the intervention discussion comes up any time two or more winemakers are gathered together with a bottle and some glasses and will continue ad infinitum without resolution because someone will always be able to come up with an example that disproves the previous conclusion.
