I agree with you about the fear mongering. That's a group that is not going to work that hard for alcohol. you parents stash is far easier.

I sometimes order wine from Whole Foods with other groceries. I asked the delivery driver what happens if I'm not home for the delivery. I was told that if there was no one at home over 21 to sign for it. the package would not be left. the wine is packed and labeled in a separate bag.

While I have a fair number of friends who rep for major distributors, I completely agree with your assessment of the industry and its inherent unfairness to anyone who doesn't fit a predetermined niche. You're also right about the desire for immediate gratification on the part of underage drinkers. A day or three to think about it would prevent another sort of hangover.

I own a vacation home in the heart of Sonoma County. I greatly enjoy the diversity that small boutique wineries provide. I agree with your comments 100%. I have done some marketing for small boutique wineries. I recall selling a wine to a distributor for $12 who then sold it to a restaurant for $30. The restaurant priced the wine at $75. That is crazy and unfair.
