Really good article. My 'forever' wine would be a dry sparkler, although zinfandel would be close. The actual answer is, of course, the wine that is in front of me, with thanks to the host.

Although I haven't had many wines I actively dislike, I won't go out of my way for anything sweet, including sauternes, probably because of unfortunate experiences with the early California experiments along those lines. I also avoid Retsina because of the overtones.

I would like track with you, although I would yearn for a blend of still wines with sparklers. Thank our God that we do not have to make a forever only one wine choice. Quite the opposite. We can drink a different wine for the rest of our live and never threaten the supply chain.
